How big can the project be?

  • Total project cost may range from as low as $150,000 up to $10,000,000
  • There’s no limit to the total project cost; however, a CDC generally can lend up to 40% of the total project cost with a dollar cap of $1,500,000.
  • CDCs can go up to $2,000,000 in SBA financing when public policy or community development goals are met, and up to $4,000,000 for eligible manufacturing projects.
  • Examples of public policy goals are: revitalize a business district, expanding minority, woman and veteran owned businesses and incorporating energy savings technologies for sustainable design.
  • Projects can also go up to $4,000,000 that generate renewal energy like solar, wind or geothermal and small businesses that purchase, construct, or retro-fit facilities incorporating energy saving technologies that result in 10% in energy savings.
